On Thursday after work, since I was in Iona caring for the grandchildren, Tony took the opportunity to do some things I would not have approved of. He climbed up into the attic to check the area where we removed the chimney when we replaced the roof a few years ago. He then got out the ladder, climbed up on the roof, cleaned the gutters, and made some repairs. Our daughter, Emily, was at home, and it was all she could do not to call me and tattle on her dad.
On Friday, Tony picked up some groceries after work and joined us in Iona for a weenie roast. It was the perfect night for a fall campfire, and the grandkids loved it!
We enjoyed watching General Conference over the weekend. With freezing temperatures in the forecast, we gathered everything in between rain showers. Even though we didn’t have the garden this year that we usually do, we enjoyed cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and butternut squash. We had probably our biggest grape harvest ever, all from one single vine planted many years ago. I have a lot of juicing to do!
The nadir part of Tony’s treatment fell over the weekend. The rain showers helped keep him from completely overdoing it. The up-and-down activity of picking the grapes was strenuous enough and made his back hurt, but Tony stubbornly insisted on removing the window air conditioner too.
I was glad that Tony felt up to joining Will and his children for Sunday dinner before Will had to take the children back to their mother for the week.
Tony is watching the hair on his head slowly grow back. There is almost no color. It looks like he has earned himself a silver crown. 👑
